Phyllanthus mirabilis a delicate-looking tree that grows in a small part of Thailand, where it is rare. The plant is highly coveted because of its gorgeous bonsai shaped growth and delicate coloured leaves that fold up every night as if in prayer. it's also incredibly slow-growing, so large caudex or bulbs are usually over ten years old. As a true indoor Bonsai, it really adds a beautiful natural accent to any space and is a really very unique plant. The plant is extremely rare, and rarely seen for sale.
The plant will go dormant at least once a year and the caudex should be kept completely dry in a cool dry spot, in January each year give the plant a good soak for 24 hours and then plant the caudex on top of the soil, pushing gently and firmly so the plant makes contact with the soil. After a few weeks, the plant will slowly wake up.
General care is very simple, the plant likes good light and humidity. The caudex stores water well so it doesn't require a great deal of watering, in fact too much watering or sitting in damp soil will rot the plant. Use our tropical plant dew and spray the plant regularly to keep it in top condition.
