Standout houseplant style! Gloriously stylish, the Fiddle leaf fig tree is the king of the tropical large leaf houseplants, with leaves shaped like violins, crisscrossed with prominent veins hence its common name 'Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree'.

Ficus Lyrata says opulence, it’s a complete A lister! A large indoor plant is how we know it, but the Fiddle leaf fig plant originates in the rainforests of central and western Africa and it has become a favourite for those who like to buy house plants as an eye-catching centrepiece or bold statement for a room. At home on the cover of a magazine, the Fiddle leaf fig is the epitome of style.

Branches will grow from the leaf bases in time, bringing a touch of the exotic to any room. Imagine the sounds of the rainforest, colourful birds calling and raindrops landing on large, lush leaves……and with the Fiddle leaf fig tree you have a part of that rainforest in your living room! Close your eyes and be transported to exotica every time you sit down and look at your fig tree!

In the wild it can grow up to 20 metres tall but in the house its maximum height is more like 3 metres. Ficus Lyrata care

The fiddle leaf fig plant is fairly easy to care for but would like a misting.

Where should I put it?

Ficus Lyrata likes a bright spot to thrive, it can withstand some direct sun but nothing too hot, not suitable for very dark spots. Fiddle fig tree is ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, studies, even bathrooms.

What temperature does it like?

The Fiddle leaf fig likes a warm temperature, never cold or draughty. They are sensitive to changes in the environment so may take time to settle in to a new home.

How much should I water it?

Fiddle fig likes to be watered weekly in summer but you must let the compost dry out before watering, if it’s not dry then don’t water! In winter you need to water only occasionally if the compost gets very dry. One of the main mistakes people make is to overwater! Overwatering can cause leaves to drop or brown, this usually occurs in winter if the soil is too moist.

Does it need feeding?

Feed every month during spring and summer - why not try out vegan, organic plant food?

Any other care?

Fiddle leaf fig trees will need their leaves dusting or misting often.

Are they suitable if you have pets?

Ficus Lyrata can be toxic to cats and dogs if nibbled.

What size of pot do I need?

W27cm x H110cm

W30cm x H140cm

W34cm x H150cm
