Coniogramme emeiensis, the fabulous bamboo fern can be found on the lush temperate slopes of Mount Omei, a three thousand meter-tall mountain in Sichuan Province, China, the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. The whole region is a UNESCO World Heritage site. 
 
in our view, it's one of the prettiest of all the indoor ferns with delicate variegated and classically shaped leaves. These are relatively fast growers and are tolerant of a wide variety of conditions, used to variable mountain weather.

Coniogramme emeiensis is easy to cultivate in a basket, on a piece of bark or in a pot. Like many ferns, it enjoys a well-drained growing medium plus shade with plenty of light but not direct sunlight. Keep moist but not soggy. When repotting, it is a good idea to add mulch to the original potting compost in the form of composted tree bark.
