We absolutely love the whole shape and fabulous foliage on this purple houseplant! Tradescantia pallida 'Purpurea' (Purple Heart) is a species of spiderwort. It is native to the Gulf Coast region of eastern Mexico. Also known, Tradescantia pallida is also known as the wandering Dude because it proliferates rapidly and will urban wild any space. If you kill this plant, pack up your plants and buy plastic!
 
The small leaves have a shiny appearance, the underside of a leaf is purple in colour, and new leaves appear a stunning deep purple at first. It looks beautiful in a hanging basket or container hanging over the sides.

How should I water this houseplant?
Water when the top few inches of soil feel dry to the touch, soak through and leave until dry again. Be careful to ensure that the plant isn't left sitting in water as it won't like that!

Yes, you can water once a month during spring and summer; try our vegan, organic plant food.
