Begonia amphioxus is a rare species of Begonia from Borneo, a giant, rugged island in Southeast Asia’s Malay Archipelago and was only described in 1990. Begonia amphioxus has become very sought after because of its stunning good looks and beautiful painted green leaves with red spots and edges.
The Begonias are native to moist subtropical and tropical climates. the plant was originally kept as an ornamental plant by the Chinese in the 14 century but is actually named after a European, Michel Begon, a 16th-century botanist.

It grows well with moist soil and good humidity and bright, ambient light with no direct sun.
How should I water this houseplant?
Water when the top few inches of soil feel dry to the touch, soak through and leave until dry again. Be careful to make sure that the plant isn’t left sitting in water as it won’t like that!
Should I feed this houseplant?
Yes, you can feed during spring and summer, try our vegan, organic plant food.
